Since 1978 in the heart of Paris’s Latin Quarter, Gilles Chancereul specializes in the manufacture, repair, restoration and appraisal of stringed instruments. He also advises on the acquisition or resale of instruments in his shop or at the Drouot-Richelieu auction house, under the auspices of Millon & Associés (Mr. Millon was president of the association of French Auctioneers for the last 14 years).
Our auctions often include French violins and bows of the 19th and early 20th centuries, by the finest makers such as Nicolas Lupot, Gand & Bernadel, Jean Baptiste Vuillaume.
Gilles Chancereul and his collaborators participate in many international exhibitions such as Musicora in Paris, the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, the Stringed Instrument Fair in Tokyo, etc. |

After 21 years at 28 rue Henri Barbusse, years of warm relations with neighbors and customers who came to know this address well, a new phase begins for Gilles Chancereul with his move to number 33 of the same street.
Violinmaker and appraiser, member of the Violin and Bow Maker’s Association for the Development of Musical Instruments Manufacture (Aladafi), appraiser for the Chambre Européenne en Œuvres d’Art, Mr. Chancereul now occupies more spacious premises. There is a wide choice of instruments and bows for all levels and a basement room is available for testing instruments under ideal conditions.
Concerts and art exhibitions are regularly held in this same space.
We are also specialists in the rental of instrument to music schools and conservatories through our Latin Lutherie brand. |
